Maddison named NAWIC apprentice of the year

Winslow Infrastructure’s Maddison McCallum took home the ‘Tradesperson or Apprentice Award’ at the 2024 NAWIC Victoria Awards for Excellence at the Crown Palladium in Melbourne last Friday.

Maddison, who was inspired by her father Mick's career in construction, began an apprenticeship at Winslow where she has been developing her skills.

“My dad, (pictured), has worked in construction for many years and he inspired me to seek a career in construction,” she said. “The close community and friendly workspaces I had heard about is what really appealed to me.”

Maddison is completing her Certificate III in Construction at National Skills Institute and has plans to do Spotters training and to gain more experience operating plant machinery.

After completing her apprenticeship Maddison has set her sights on becoming a Supervisor.

Winslow was a proud Bronze Sponsor of the NAWIC Awards.

“Our commitment to supporting diversity in our business and the construction industry is critical to our success and we are proud to continue to promote females and their achievements,” said Winslow Infrastructure General Manager Leonard Bam.
